Update Summer 2023

I continue to work as a lecturer in Journalism at the University of Salford, while freelancing widely for several Liverpool-based publications.

I spent a spell as Editor-At-Large of the Liverpool Post, an offshoot of the Manchester Mill. You can read my articles below.

I have contributed to the National Museums Liverpool website, both as a writer and guest on a podcast. Commissions on Doctor Who (to tie in with a recent exhibition) and urban planning seemed designed for me and were very enjoyable to write.

I have written several articles for Left Bank, a magazine and website promoting Wirral. I have spent time in a railway cutting, golf course, transport museum and shipbuilders as a result.

I continue to write on theatre and food in Liverpool for Liverpool Underlined. My theatre reviews for WhatsOnStage can also be seen below.

January 2017 update

I am working full-time as a Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Salford, while developing research interest and still freelancing.

I have written a chapter on Brexit and the British press for forthcoming publication. I delivered a talk at the Liverpool Hope University based on the paper.

I wrote a feature for the inaugural edition of Ethos Paper on HCT Group, featuring an interview with the organisation’s Tracey Vickers on sustainability, transport and social enterprise.

I continue to write theatre reviews for WhatsOnStage.com, reviewing Fiddler On The Roof at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre.

I was the featured guest on The Motoring Podcast.

I worked with a group of students from the University of Salford to interview people sleeping rough for an investigation into homelessness in conjunction with the Manchester Evening News.

I contributed my regular column (on ultra-low emissions in fleets), along with three car reviews, to Professional Manager Magazine.

I contributed an article to the Salford Business School Magazine, Ignited, on the possibilities for education and automotive sectors in the North-West following Brexit.
